I just checked on e-benefits and the tinnitus is listed as NOT SERVICE CONNECTED!!! Haven't received my decision letter yet. Never thought much of it since everyone I served with had the same ringing and we were always told back then that hearing issues were not the Army's problem since they provided hearing protection. The ringing started during a gunnery when I was dismounted (had to take a leak lol) and the tank next to our fired the main gun. I have had ringing in my ears since 1986/87. Had my C&P at Gainesville, FL on 64th St. I get more relief from a floor fan running in the background. I was told that the most you can get for Tinnitus is 10%, but for me it will mean moving up to the nearest 10 disability level. The entire C&P lasted about 50 minutes. The VA gave me a sound machine to drown out the ringing, but it's a useless piece of equipment and does nothing to make things better. He was reading the Q&A directly from the VA evaluation questionnaire. For the Tinnitus test, there were more interval sounds given but with a lot of background white noise. There were 8-10 questions the audiologist asked me at the end.

I have V90's that were awarded back in December 14' so I was able to evaluate the difference in the testing. Basically it's was a hearing test similar to the one you might have gotten for your hearing aids. There is no official test to determine specifically the condition of Tinnitus. It pretty much up to the audiologist to decide that you either have it or you don't. I just completed a C&P exam for Tinnitus through VES on July 27th in Greensboro, NC. My exam has been sent to the VBA and is at Preparation for Decision 3 weeks after the C&P. I'll try to give you what I was told for the same situation. Since 1999, the number of reported noise-related injuries for Swedish conscripts has fallen by 90% and the number of reported noise-related injuries per 100,000 service days has fallen from 18 to five, which means that the number of payouts by the state in compensation has also fallen.I have bilateral tinnitus. At the same time, normal speech is allowed through while loud noises such as gunfire and explosions are blocked. Intelligent hearing protectors amplify weaker sounds, while two microphones make it possible to localise where the sounds are coming from.

The Swedish Armed Forces have therefore invested in “intelligent” hearing protectors since 1999 for all of their conscripts and officers and purchased hearing protectors with improved noise suppression in 2006. The Swedish Armed Forces' preferred firearm is the AK5, a weapon which has a noise level of around 165dB. Human hearing can cope with a noise level of up to 80dB for a longer period of time before it becomes damaged. The soldiers' training often takes place in buildings, in which noise levels are greatly increased because the noise is reflected off of both the walls and ceiling.īut with the introduction of “intelligent” hearing protectors, the Swedish Armed Forces set a goal to reduce noise-related injuries by 25% between 2006-2011. Of the 16,200 soldiers who enlisted in the Swedish Armed Forces in 2002, hearing-related injuries were third highest on the list of health problems suffered, while of the 2,400 Swedes who were sent home during their military service, 14% of these instances were because of hearing loss. Many soldiers suffer from permanent hearing injuries and hearing loss as a result of being exposed to high levels of noise during their military training.
